Anime DiD sketch; Pencil & Paper.

Mihoshi gets home, only to find out that she is not alone in the house! An intruder grabs her from behind, cleave gags her, and then tightly ties her to a chair, lighting the fuse on an explosive keg before making his getaway. Mihoshi is struggling against the secure knots, but can only watch as the fuse slowly burns toward it's goal...will anyone come to her rescue?!?

Mihoshi is one of my all time favorite Anime gals, especially when she proves she isn't as ditzy as everyone thinks. But her cuteness is just begging for some peril, or at least to be a damsel in distress.

Here is some narrative:

Mihoshi Kuramitsu: The Tenchi Muyo style is one that I haven't ever tried to sketch, therefore, I wasn't sure how it would look when finished. For Mihoshi, she is very thin, yet takes up a lot of space due to her bizarre floppy hairstyle. She usually sports a jeans and tank top (sort of) combo, and I decided to give her boots because, well, I like DiD's in boots ;) I needed some good references for the facial features, especially the eyes as they are different than how I have been practicing, but I think I came close. The other thing I tried this time is a cleave gag that doesn't fill up the DiD's mouth...Mihoshi is biting down on it (I hope it looks that way anyway) as she is struggling...I really like that usage of the cleave.

Scene: Once again I decided to go with the "character in a normal setting" deal, although I was tempted to try a dojo style background. I added a couple little touches, but all in all, I didn't focus too much on the background this time. And I wimped out on the floor too...nothing fancy there. I do have to give credit to ARNie! because his recent Teen Titans Western Peril work is what convinced me to use a barrel powder keg as the peril choice.

Overall I am pretty pleased with the way this turned out...what do you think? I would like to hear all of your comments!!!

Oho! A new Estoke work!

The first thing that jumps out at me here is the crossed ropes over her midriff. Haven't seen that before, it's interesting.

The cleavegag is, honestly? A little iffy. It looks ready to come apart in her mouth, and seems to be tied in a somewhat precarious place. The leg ties are good - I was ready to say her legs were a bit over short, but careful examination reveals that might just be an optical illusion.

Floor's actually alright...except that the wall seems at a curious angle, as compared to the pattern on the floor. And I definitely like her expression of fear, poor thing - I imagine she's almost shocked, as much as scared, what with the ridiculously antiquated (but still very real) peril! ^___^

Nicely done, chum.

T'is Mihoshi! Ooh, how I've longed to see more people put her in tight situations.
Thank you for sharing, Estoke.

As always, a wonderfully detailed piece of work. Great choice of a damsel too.

Lead us not into temptation... Just point us in the general direction and we'll find it ourselves.

No problem, although with Mihoshi's probability altering abilities, she may be able to be the one damsel to luck herself out of a perilous situation such as this.

Thanks for the comment!

I appreciate the feedback, and I am glad that many are agreeing with me on my choice selection of DiD's.

Nice detailed ropework, but she seems to have an awful lot of hair :) I like the little detail of the photo on the wall.

As for saving her: she is moving closer and closer to the fuse, and is probably quick enough to stamp out the flame...
:iconestoke61:
Yeah, I might have overdone it a little bit on the hair, but she does have an awful lot of it in some of the references I had. Funny how just one bow keeps it up like that ;p

I didn't really think of it, but her struggling would get her closer, wouldn't it? She would have to get to it before the fuse burns around the other side and into the air, though.

Thanks for the comment!
