Special Guest Damsel in Distress sketch. Paper and Pencil.

Helena had the stage and the hall all to herself, and figured it was a great time to do some catch up rehearsing without being disturbed. Only, as she is warming up, a masked, caped phantom grabs her! She is quickly tied hand and foot and gagged before she can even think of a suitable attack or escape. As she squirms on stage, trying to loosen the knots and the ropes, the Phantom decides that she needs to be secure, and tightly hogties her. What does he have planned for her...revenge, ransom, infatuation???

I don't really know too much about DOA (Dead or Alive), but I do know that I took an immediate liking to Helena after seeing some fanart. As I did some research, I found that she has a rather haughty attitude, but that isn't anything that can't be changed with some rope and some peril :XD:

Analyzation:

Helena: IMHO, everything about her design oozes sex appeal. Her ample cleavage and low cut corset, the stylish hair bow, the cuffs on her arms and boots...everything is detailed and ornate/rich. I gathered a large amount of references, but surprisingly didn't really look at most of them. There isn't a huge amount of fanart out there for her as there seems to be for the other DOA girls, so she must not be a top tiered character in the series in terms of popularity. I almost omitted the tails she has on her outfit, but for the purposes of her twisting and struggling, I assume it is just hanging on the other side of her legs. I personally like how her head and facial features came out.

Phantom: This Opera villain is rooted in the classic tradition. I didn't do too much aside from the mask and the tuxedo, but I did try to show a position I hadn't tried yet - a kneeling crouch during the tie up. I think it came out ok, although I am not sure what else I could have done with the right (our right) leg, but it doesn't seem quite right, though I can't see how I could fix it. Guess I still have a ways to go.

Scene: Well, Helena is an Opera singer, right? So I created a stage atmosphere, but I had to throw in an indication of what was doing, thus the music stand and water bottle. I wimped out on the background with the main curtain drawn.

Comments would sure be appreciated...tell me your opinions on this one!

It is a personality flaw of mine to always try and replace a DiD's usual temperament with one that is more ladylike; Helena seems to be pretty arrogant according to what I have read - I can't have a DiD like that now, can I? ;P

I like the look on the dude's face. Is she giving him a bit of trouble? Or is he just fumbling with a knot?

I don't care. Don't shit up my page with 'thank yous'. Keep it on your own page.

DA. It's serious business. And if you believe that, you aren't going to get along very well with me.

I think my idea is that she is struggling a good amount because she knows once he is done with the hogtie she won't have any chance to get free, and he is about to tighten the last knot on the front of her legs, out of her reach. Maybe he looks slightly POed because he had to resort to a hogtie to keep her secured, and that was an extra annoyance? I dunno, use your imagination I suppose :XD:

Thanks for the comment!

Really, really enjoy the pose she's in and what a gorgeous gal Helena is! This kind of reminds me how Phantom of the Opera should have been :p
