Duo Anime/Cartoon DiD sketch; Pencil & Paper & Photoshop COLOR.

This is a colored version of one of my earlier sketches on dA.

As Admiral Ackbar says tirelessly, "IT'S A TRAP!"

Already tied up in this dank basement and struggling for freedom, Peach is elated that Honey Kisaragi enters to save the day. But seemingly right behind her, Honey gets surprised by the same thugs that kidnapped Peach, and before she can go for her heart to transform, she winds up tied up, sitting, back to back with Peach, just as night falls!

It's frustrating! Peach's boxtied arms can't reach down to Honey's wrists, to say nothing about reaching her own knots. Honey can't seem to twist her arms up high enough tied so close together to Peach to pick at her knots around her wrists, and what's worse, every time either tugs on her ropes, it only re-tightens the other's knots holding them together. 15 minutes have gone by, and with less than 5 left on the timer of the bomb the villains left behind, neither has made enough progress to get free...will anyone find them in time???

I have had many requests to color this one and so, despite choosing a newer work to color, I gave this one a go. I am pretty pleased with the results, although I know I still have a long way to go to get the hang of this coloring deal.

Vibrant notes:

Princess Peach: A few things bugged me about this older sketch, so I started by fixing Peach's jawline, mouth, and eyes. I also touched up her outfit, and even though I would draw it more accurately now, I left it as is. Coloring her was fairly simple, and I used the trick I learned from Shax on Peach's eyes to bring them out more.

Honey Kisaragi: Much like Peach, she was easy enough to color, although the only thing I fixed in the sketch was enlarging her hand, which was a bit too small in the original sketch. I colored her outfit as a hybrid of her white sexy outfit and the skintight "space" outfit, so what you see here is my interpretation of combining the two, both design and color-wise. Note that her eyes use three highlights, something I had never really noticed before.

The Scene: This was one of the ones where I had trouble picking out grays/browns/blacks for the overall scene, so I stole from my earlier colored Honey work to save on time. I always envisioned this a night scene, so I tried to show moonlight coming from a short window near the top of the ceiling. I used a lot of textures in this one, a couple pattern stamps when I couldn't find a texture that looked good, and also replaced the black pencils with grays for the words and struggling motions so they could be seen. I also did that with the timer's display.

I still don't think I will ever try that sitting tug o war position again, and I doubt it would work in real life, but hey, this is all fantasy, right?
